Taiwan's Toy Revival Festival is promoting the recycling of toys. Instead of throwing away broken toys, people can send them to be renewed in creative ways.
The children are having a great time playing with different toys. None of the toys are brand new. They are actually old and broken but had gone through the process of selection and reassembly.
We separate the toys into different colors and then let the kids reassemble them into something new.
In the past, most people threw away the broken toys. The Taiwan Toy Library Association and Mailiao Culture Association have collaborated to hold a revival festival to promote the concept of toy recycling. The festival gives children an opportunity to experience traditional toys while advocating the importance of recycling.
If a toy is broken, we would dissemble it in order to show people that toys are not made of just parts. There are many circuit boards and metal bits inside. If we throw those into the trash can, it would harm the environment.
The Toy Revival Festival will be held between April and June at 15 different locations across Taiwan. The goal is to promote the spirit of creation and teach children to cherish their toys.
