The Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) has been criticized again for deducting employees' overtime pay. Under the current pay scheme, employees who work more than four substitute shifts will end up earning less than those who work less overtime hours.
The Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) has been accused of deducting the employees' overtime pay. Originally, an employee who takes over shift for his or her colleague will be credited for three hours of overtime pay. However, if an employee works four or more substitute shifts in two weeks, the TRA will only credit the employee with 1.2 overtime hour pay every time. An employee who works three substitute shifts is entitled for 9 hours of overtime pay, whereas one who works four shift is only entitled of 4.8 hours of overtime pay.
The more overtime hours that an employee works, the less pay he or she ends up getting. This is quite a strange.
A union has criticized TRA for its illogical overtime hour scheme. The TRA has also been criticized for deducting one and a half days of pay for each off day, to which the administration responded by saying that their pay scheme is based on existing laws.
