Two moderately strong earthquakes rattled the opposite ends of Japan over the night of July 1st. The quake in Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island, registered 5.1 on the Richter scale, while down south, the one in Kyushu was 4.5 in magnitude. Meanwhile rain continues in parts of Japan, and in Europe, the mercury hits record high highs in Romania.
Around midnight of July 1, Japan's New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido video recorded the earthquake. Airport operation remained normal while some JR trains stopped for security reason. Residents were at shock.

We heard loud sound, everything was shaking. We were in deep sleep, and we got scared.

We were ready to run for life, it was crowded.
Kyushu's Kumamoto Ken recorded a 4.5 Richter magnitude scale earthquake. Japan Meteorological Agency pointed out, the earthquake may be the after-shock from the earthquake occurred last April. In the next few days, there may be another earthquake at magnitude scale of four to five. In addition to earthquake, front brought heavy rain to Japan. The accumulated precipitation from July 1 to 2 has already accounted 80 to 90% of last July's record.

We forecast the front will stay put, and the southern areas of northern and north-eastern territories are the center of storms. Until July 3, thunders will come along with heavy rains at precipitation of 50 millimeters per hour. The areas mentioned will have heavy rainy weather.
In other side of the globe, Romania of Eastern Europe is experiencing heat waves. Capital City Bucharest had 44 Celsius degrees, while some cities reached 33 to 38 or even 40 Celsius degrees.
==RESIDENT, Bucharest==
The best way to avoid heat problems is to drink more water, stay in the shade and not in the sun. I recommend spending more time in supermarkets, where it's much cooler.
Romanian Ministry of Health urges people to stay indoor from 11am to 6pm, in order to avoid heat stroke.
