PENCE MEETS ABE TO WORK ON NORTH KOREA ISSUE |彭斯會安倍 美日同意合作因應北韓問題

US Vice President Mike Pence is currently visiting Japan. The two countries have agreed to work together on the North Korea issue and carry out negotiations on 3 key areas for bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Both sides also agreed to two more meetings before the end of this year. U.S. Vice President Mike Pence met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for talks on North Korean nuclear issues. Both agree the level of threats has manifested to a new phase. They believe China is influential to North Korea and therefore urge China to assist with the matter. ==MIKE PENCE, U.S. Vice President== President Trump and I and our administration believe the most productive pathway forward is a dialogue among the family of nations that can isolate and pressure North Korea into abandoning permanently and dismantling its nuclear weapons program and its ballistic missile program. Pence emphasized that the U.S. Japan alliance is the cornerstone of regional security, both have cooperated on dealing with North Korean nuclear threats and Chinese activities over the South China Sea. Pence also participated in dialogues with Taro Aso on bilateral trade, investment regulation, economic and financial infrastructure and policy. ==TARO ASO, Japanese Deputy Prime Minister== The United States and Japan have agreed to cooperate to move to correct the unfair trade practices of the region. In addition, Vice-president and I also agree to hold the second economic dialogue at a convenient time for both this year. Deputy Prime Minister Aso pointed out, the U.S. Japan alliance should establish high standards on trade and investment, including utilizing global organization such as WTO for resolving disputes and allowing a more fair trading in Asia Pacific. According to Japanese media, Japan focuses on trade regulations set by the TPP, but the U.S. is looking for closer bilateral trade cooperation.
