POACHERS BREAK INTO FRENCH ZOO, KILL WHITE RHINO FOR HORN|盜獵者闖法野生動物園 射殺白犀牛取角

In other news, a rare white rhinoceros was found dead in a wildlife park near Paris on Tuesday. Poachers apparently broke into the enclosure overnight, shot the animal in the head three times and then removed its ivory horn with a chain-saw. Police have begun investigating and efforts are now underway to bring in the suspects, who still remain at large. Majestic and unique, these are the white rhinos kept at a wildlife park, Thoiry Zoo, near Paris, but on March 7th, one of them, a 5-year-old young male named Vince, was discovered by a caretaker to have been killed by poachers, who broke in overnight and used a chain saw to remove the animal's ivory horn before fleeing into the night. ==THIERRY DUGET Director, Thoiry Group== He had several bullets in his head. His horn has been sawed off, cut into sections. That's how it happened. Vince had been with the Zoo since 2015, and was described as a very important animal, to which the staff has grown attached. After the incident took place, the enclosure where Vince was kept has been cordoned off, and zoo officials have alerted other zoos across Europe. ==THIERRY DUGET Director Thoiry Group== I think he was happy here at the park in Thoiry. This distresses us completely. We are all shocked as well as is the profession - we have contacted all of the directors of French and European zoos Zoo officials said the police are investigating but the suspects are still at large, adding that such incidents almost never occurred in Europe. ==THIERRY DUGET Director Thoiry Group== This is unimaginable. Unfortunately, this is done in Africa in places which aren't clearly secured but not here, in Europe, it's not possible A rhinoceros horn, which many believe to have aphrodisiac powers, can be sold for up to EU€ 40,000 on the black market. According to conservation groups, poachers kill more than 1000 rhinos in Africa every year. TRANSLATED BY：JEFF CHANG
