CLOUD SEEDING BRINGS UP NORTHERN RESERVOIR LEVELS|鋒面接近 石門.寶二等水庫人工增雨

Yesterday, taking advantage of the approaching weather front, the Water Resources Agency seeded clouds over the reservoirs to produce rain. This resulted in considerable rainfall for all the reservoirs. Since water is still lacking, the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced that from March 1, New Taipei City's Linkou, Taoyuan, and Xinzhu will implement the first stage of water rationing. This led to Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan saying that water from Shimen Reservoir should only be used by Taoyuan. Continuous fine rain has finally filled up Shimen Reservoir a little. Northern Region Water Resources Office== The Central Weather Bureau forecast that this wave of rain would continue to strengthen and we estimate it will be over 30 milliliters. Apart from Shimen Reservoir, on the morning of Feb. 22, cloud seeding also took place over Xinchu's Bao Er, and Bao San Reservoirs. This increased water by one million tons. However, statistics show that Mingde Reservoir only increased by 30,000 to 40,000 tons. Yonghe Mountain had a 24-milliliter rainfall and there were no estimates for the amount of water that resulted in the reservoir. Currently, Shimen Reservoir water is used by the Taoyuan area as well as New Taipei's Xinzhuang, Tucheng, Sanxia, Yingge and Shulin. Taoyuan Municipality Government== Currently, Feitsui Reservoir is 80 percent full, Shimen Reservoir is only 54 percent. Mayor Chen thinks that the water resources should be re-adjusted and hopes that more water for Banciao and New Taipei City can come from Feitsui Reservoir so that more water from Shimen Reservoir can be used for Taoyuan. Taoyuan Municipality Government suggests that the central government should adjust water resource use and swiftly complete the second phase of the Banciao New Taipei City water resource improvement plan, thereby allowing water from Shihmen and Feitsui to be mutually regulated and effectively integrate water resources.
