PRESIDENT TSAI CALLS ON BEIJING TO WITHDRAW PRESSURE|蔡英文"年終談話" 籲北京勿走回打壓老路

At the year-end press conference, President Tsai Ing-wen urged Beijing not to go back to the old path of dividing, coercing, and even threatening and intimidating Taiwan. Added that such conduct has hurt the feelings of the Taiwanese people and destabilized cross-strait relations. However, Chinese President Xijing ping didn't respond to Tsai's speech, nor did he make any remarks on the current cross-strait relations during his New Year speech in Beijing. However Xi in a tea chat with members of the national committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference emphasized the insistence on '92 Consensus and promotions on cross-strait social economical development. The Reuters News Agency quoted from Chinese senior officials saying that China considers pressuring Taiwan via economy, military drills and possibly stopping the Three links. China may isolate Taiwan and prevent her from possible independence.
