PREMIER LIN SAYS WILL TACKLE LOW CABINET APPROVAL RATE |談內閣民調滑落 林全:盡力改善民眾不滿

As the end of the year approaches, talks once again emerged about a potential reshuffle of the cabinet. At a afternoon tea party yesterday afternoon, Premier Lin Chuan reiterated that all cabinet members are constantly being reviewed and their performance examined, yet he also said there were no specific plans for an adjustment at the moment. Regarding the government's dipping approval ratings, Lin said he would do what is necessary to convince the people that the cabinet he leads is one which is capable of solving problems. He further said that after spending the past few months solving problems, the coming year will be a year of progress. Premier Lin Chuan held a tea party with the press on the afternoon of Dec. 27. Rumor has it that there will be a cabinet reshuffle and the vice premier of the Executive Yuan Lin Hsi-yao will be transferred to secretary-general to the President. However, Lin said there is no such plan for now. ==LIN CHUAN Premier== As to the personnel of the cabinet, we are reviewing them at any time. However, there is no plan for adjustment for now. As to the dropping approval rating of the Lin-led cabinet, he said the cabinet would do its best to improve what people feel unsatisfied. However, in the long-term plan for the nation, not every policy can satisfy everyone, such as the amendments to the Labor Standards Act and related issues, with some adjustment made to the exisiting policies. For the past seven months of observation, he emphasized that his cabinet is one that can solve problems. ==LIN CHUAN Premier== In fact, we really hope to solve problems in a pragmatic way. There will be a focus in every phase. Next year, as I said, is the year of fruition. The basic things, no matter whether they are hardware-related or software-related, will be completed as soon as possible. The cabinet has undergone an adjustment period and solved problems left by the former administration, Lin said, adding that next year is the year of fruition. In response to questions from the press, he said the top three priorities for the Legislative Yuan to deal with are as follows: the Electricity Act of the green energy policy, the long-term care plan's requirement for sufficient fund and the social housing projects and related urban renewal acts. Lin said the cabinet would do its utmost to carry out the long-term policies.
