On Monday, a majority of the electoral college voted for Donald Trump, confirming his election as the next president of the United States. While the vote finally put an end to a turbulent, nearly two-year-long election season, the American public remained deeply divided. At the last minute, people against Trump across the country were still rallying for electors to prevent him from being inaugurated next month. At the same time, many are mulling over the electoral college system, which allows candidates, including Trump, to win despite trailing their opponent in the popular vote.
538 electors from 50 states and the District Columbia casted their official electoral votes in their home states on December 19. As anticipated, the Electoral College did not overturn the result of the presidential election. Donald Trump got 304 electoral votes and will be sworn in on January 20, 2017. Hillary Clinton got 227 electoral votes. Prior to the Electoral College voting, some protesters urged electoral college blocking Trump from gaining the White House.

Trump will be like a dictator. He's getting all of his strong man into his cabinet positions, and all the big money, and they are taking over.

Don't vote for him, don't vote for Trump, it's a bad idea. He's got so many conflicts of interest, Russia is probably blackmailing him, they have him on a string.
Some protestors held signs saying that Russian President Putin manipulating Trump, and Russian hackers interfered the U.S. presidential election. Some people are urging the need to change the U.S. election system, making popular votes as a direct vote to the presidential election. Hillary Clinton got nearly three million popular votes than Donald Trump, but failed at electoral votes.The Electoral College is a mechanism established by the U.S. Constitution. It was designed for elite leadership and balanced progress for each state. Voters first cast their votes and later electors representing each state cast electoral votes confirming the president-elect. The number of electors is proportionate to the seats in the Congress. Although voices of abolishing the Electoral College have never stopped, the system remains.
