PLA BOBMER ALLEGEDLY FLIES WITHIN VISIBLE RANGE OF YUSHAN|中國空軍飛行照疑似經過玉山.蘭嶼

The People's Liberation Army Air Force conducted training at the Pacific Ocean on Dec 10 and posted a photo of an airborne Xian H-6K on the internet, allegedly taken during the training, with Mount Jade in the background. On Dec 18, another photo surfaced, showing a Xian H-6K passing the sky over Orchid Island. The Ministry of National Defense said the Chinese PLA military planes flew outside of Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone. The PLA Air Force published a Xian H-6K photo on the internet with what looks like a Taiwanese mountain in the background. Some Chinese media reported that the photo was taken on Dec 10 during the PLA Air Force training at the Pacific Ocean. Reports even said it was China's Mount Jade. Another photo of a Xian H-6K bomber has also been seen on Chinese websites, allegedly showing Orchid Island and Ji-Teiwan at the bottom right corner. The Ministry of Defense believes that it was China's scare tactic and declined to comment. However, the Defense Ministry stressed that PLA military planes did not enter Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone. ==CHEN CHUNG-CHI, National Defense Ministry Spokesperson== The Chinese military planes were outside the Air Defense Identification Zone. We have taken corresponding measures. The National Defense Ministry will not comment on the photos circulated by media. The media should stop making speculations. ==CHIEH CHUNG, Asst. Researcher, National Policy Foundation== I think China is trying to send a political signal. In the previous two instances, the route may be north to south or south to north. Either way, the distance was not long, and the planes did not do much. They just want to fly along that route to get attention. They want Taiwan and other countries, especially the US and Japan, to feel the tension. Both DPP and KMT legislators believe that the National Defense Ministry should make a public statement to explain the entire incident. ==LUO CHIH-CHENG DPP legislator== This is a scare tactic. China wants to intimidate Taiwan and shows that their military capability, telling us that they can penetrate our ADIZ or territorial sky. That's why this is significant, if these photos are real.
