To put an end to closed-door negotiations and usher in legislative transparency, a new law that required all cross-caucus negotiations at the Legislative Yuan be broadcast live passed its third reading last month. On December 13, a negotiation session called by Legislative Yuan Speaker Su Jia-chyuan became the first-ever cross-caucus meeting to be streamed live.
In a cross-caucus meeting called by Legislative Speaker Su Jia-chyuan, representatives from each party finally reached a consensus.

For the first item, the approval of nominees for positions in the Fair Trade Commission, we have all reached a consensus and signed for it.
The meeting was different from those in the past as it was the first time that such meeting was broadcast live after the Legislative Yuan passed the three readings of the Organic Law of the Legislative Yuan. It makes people wonder if live broadcasting such meetings will put legislators on the spot.

As you can see, the negotiation lasted for a long time. Some may not hold their grounds because of live broadcasting. It actually makes a difference. There are pros and cons to this.
The Democratic Progressive Party believes that there's pros and cons to live broadcasting. Some question that people might not speak their mind in front of the camera.

Each party can negotiate freely with one another, but through live broadcasting, parties must take the responsibility for their stance on each policy.
While the New Power Party stated that they will not be tied down in front of the camera, Kuomintang stressed that not everything can be solved through negotiations.
==LIAO KUO-TUNG, KMT Caucus Whip==
We have negotiations because we want to solve problems we cannot solve through the normal mechanism. Since the live broadcasting practice just launched, no one knows if it will give rise to a new form of negotiations. We'll see how it goes.
With indecisive views to live broadcasting negotiation meetings, it remains to be seen whether or not transparency will be brought to legislative negotiations.
