SECURITY GUARDS AND HAIRDRESSERS HAVE LONGEST HOURS AND LOWEST WAGES|薪水低.工時長 服務業最窮忙

According to statistics from the Directorate of Budget Accounting and Statistics, the lowest paid jobs and those with the longest working hours can be found in the service sector. The beauty industry has both the lowest pay and the long working hours among the top five in the sector. The job with the largest number of people dying from overwork is that of security guards who have the longest working hours. Workers' groups called on the Government to put forward specific measures to tackle the problem as soon as possible. Standing all day, from morning to night, washing, drying and cutting hair, hairdressers have the fewest holidays, the longest hours and the lowest wages. Many dream of setting up their own hair design salon and tell themselves that they must put up with conditions. ==MS. ZHOU hairdresser== Some start at NT$25,000 and gradually work their way up and some just never manage to get further. It all depends on your ability. Many in the industry feel that this crushing grassroots labor means that the turnover rate is high and this is not good. Civil groups analysed the DGBAS statistics and found that hairdressing, cram schools, transport, rubbish collection and gardening are the five lowest paid jobs in Taiwan. Even with overtime pay, annual bonus and any other subsidies, the monthly wage is less than NT$30,000. This is far below the average monthly wage of NT$48,490. ==SUN YOU-LIAN Sec-Gen. Taiwan Labor Front== Looking at the DGBAS statistics, in fact, 70% of wages are below NT$40,000. So at a conservative estimate, 75% of Taiwan workers draw a wage lower than the average wage. This is the industry that the Bureau of Labor Insurance found has the highest death rate from overwork. On average, security guards work 222 hours a month, 1.26 times more than the average 175 hours a month. Security guards say that in fact, they work more than 222 hours, as according to government regulations for security work, as long as they don't work over 288 hours a month, it is still legal.
