President accepts petition from protestors in Taichung / 台中鐵路高架化啟用 反土徵團體抗議.蔡接陳情　　　　　　　　　　

Taichung on Sunday inaugurated its elevated railway station, however Taichung City Mayor Lin Chia-Lung's speech was interrupted by the protesters against compulsory land purchase. Since President Tsai was invited to the ceremony she accepted a petition from the protestors and said she will take time to understand more about the circumstances. ==PROTESTORS== Lin Chia-lung! Resign! Lin Chia-lung! Resign! On Oct. 16, the new elevated section of Taichung City's rail line was officially inaugurated. However several anti land expropriation members were shouting across the street, interrupting Mayor Lin's speech. ==LIN CHIA-LUNG, Taichung City Mayor== We had passed the reviews or urban planning. Also we have support from the people, plus high subsidies for land expropriation. I believe that the majority of Taichung city residents are expecting the new era. We will negotiate well and make all things in accordance with law. Taichung elevated railway construction began in 2009, the city government plans to make a connection between the station's front and rear exits, therefore a cram school building needs to be torn down. The building's owners were frustrated and have protested for over a year. They hoped to hand over their petition to the invited President Tsai, but they were blocked by the police. ==PROTESTORS== The city government is to tear down our house. Why are you blocking? It took only a few words to tear down people's houses, those are our properties! ==TSAI ING-WEN, President== At beginning of the transformation, there must be some adjustments. I believe either the Ministry of Transportation Communications or the Taichung City government will act on behalf of peoples' benefits. They will listen to the voices of users and continue to improve. President Tsai later walked to the protesters and accepted their petition. President Tsai said that she will read and know more details. Taichung City government had emphasized, the purpose of the land expropriation was to make a better traffic flows and better development for the east district and the south district.
