TSAI PROMISES OVERSEAS COMMUNITY TO WORK FOR PEACE|向歸國僑胞致詞 蔡:區域和平需共同努力

This is our objective and the new southwards policy that we are developing. Tsai and Lin called on overseas compatriots as the first National Day for the new government was about to take place. The Overseas Community Affairs Council estimated that about 4,000 overseas Taiwanese returned. Compared to the 8,000 who returned for former president Ma Ying-jeou and former president Chen Shui-bian it was a smaller gathering but OCAC Minister Wu Hsin-hsing said it was an unnecessary comparison.
