XPEC CEO IS CHARGED WITH INSIDER TRADING WITHOUT BAIL|樂陞案 董座許金龍列被告.限制出境

On Sept. 7, XPEC Entertainment, which is responsible for games such as Shrek Forever and Kung Fu Panda saw its share prices plummet yet again. Investors are angry that their shares aren't worth the paper they are printed on and the company will fall out of the market. Following suspicions of insider trading the company's CEO Aaron Hsu was called in for investigation as a witness. After interview at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office he was charged with insider trading without bail. After XPEC Entertainment's merger deal with Japan fell through, the company's stock prices fell for six days running. Prices ended at NT$41.6 with 13.47 million shares lined up for sale in the next session. Investors are suffering huge losses and suspicions of insider trading are rife. XPEC CEO Aaron Hsu returned from Japan on Sept. 6, and on Sept. 7, was interviewed by New Taipei City Criminal Investigation Bureau as a witness. By the evening he was transferred to Taipei District Prosecutors Office for interview. ==AARON HSU XPEC CEO== (Are you going to face investors?) Of course, no problem. Hsu said he had voluntarily returned to Taiwan to face investors after the Japanese merger deal fell through. He called on investors to remain calm and not to just sell off their shares. After media personality Sisy Chen resigned as CEO, the investors' self help group worry that the other two directors, former minister of Economic Affairs Yiin Chi-ming and former director of Taipei Department of Cultural Affairs, Lee Yong-ping will also resign. This would put the stock into freefall and they called on Hsu to move to save the company. ==CHEN DE-HUI XPEC investors' self help group convener== Of course we don't want the company to drop out of the market but we are worried that the share price falls every day, so the value of our shares is falling. We can't do anything, they aren't worth the paper they are printed on. ==LEE WO CHIANG Professor, Tamkang University Dept of Finance Banking== The decision-making of independent directors is very important to a company. So when independent directors resign it makes a big impact on a company, especially a public-invested company. However, the Financial Supervisory Commission found that before the fall through of the merger with Bai Chi Gan Tou Entertainment, XPEC's shares showed unusual trading and believe that someone was manipulating the market. The FSC Chairman Ding Ke-wha said that if there had been any illegal activity there would be records and these would be investigated. ==DING KE-WHA FSC Chairman== If there was any insider trading or manipulation there will be traces that sort of information cannot be erased. We will thoroughly investigate and prosecute. Apart from Hsu being questioned, the Chinese Association of Finance Professionals and Investors Secretary-General Hsiang Jie-mei lodged a suit against Hsu and the three independent directors at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for violating securities and exchange laws and betraying investors' trust causing. It alleged that this caused losses of NT$10 billion. Hsu cried all through questioning in the prosecutor's office and said that he had also lost everything. He was charged late last night with violating securities and exchange laws and held without bail.
