KMT UNION AND PARTY DISAGREE OVER SALARY PROPOSAL|黨產恐被凍結 國民黨擬預發薪資工會不滿

After the act governing political party assets was passed recently, the Kuomintang had proposed to use some of its current assets to pay its staff five months of salaries in advance. However, the KMT union disagreed with the proposed plan and said that all staff should be paid in advance as it feels new staff should not be included otherwise. It wants the priority for the current assets to go towards pensions instead. It has asked for NT$1.4 billion to be allocated to pension funds, or it will file a complaint to the Taipei City Government Department of Labour. KMT has been preparing for the possibility of party assets being blocked, KMT party office plans to pay five-month salaries in advance to each party staff. However KMT Union opposes such idea, it demands KMT to allocate at least NT$1.4 billion for pension reserve, otherwise the Union would report to Taipei City Government's Department of Labour. ==LIU HUEI-LING, KMT Union President== If party has the money, it is not necessary to pay five-month salaries to us. The party should allocate full amount for our pension. The total amount is NT$1.4 billion. If not, the party should allocate half of that amount at NT$ 700 million. The Union emphasizes the party assets should have allocated to existing personnel, not the newly employed staff. KMT office says it will allocate partial funds and continues to negotiate with the Union. ==CHOU CHIH-WEI, Director of KMT Culture and Communications Committee== Regarding party staff's rights, we would try our best and most sincerity to handle this matter. We certainly would allocate partial fund to the relevant bank account for their pension reserve as soon as possible, in order to protect their rights. KMT did not reveal amount to be allocated, but the Union says last year Department of Labour asked KMT to pay up sufficient pension amount, but thereafter, nothing happened. The Union is to negotiate with KMT office next week and ready to report to city authorities if KMT does not meet their demand for at least NT$700 million in pension fund.
