When she checked in for her flight from the Hanoi airport to Ha Tinh province, she was the only one out of the 9 group members who didn't get a boarding pass. Her passport was also confiscated. She emphasized on Facebook that she had to almost fight to get it back. After 9 hours of negotiation, Su took a bus to her destination instead. ==WANG PEI-LING, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs== She arranged the whole itinerary herself, so the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam did not know where she was heading to. When the incident happened, she contacted TECO. TECO then held an emergency negotiation with the Vietnam authorities, and they agreed to allow Su to continue her itinerary. Su reported on Facebook that she was fine. She visited the Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation in the company of MOFA staff on August 2. Her movements were restricted because her itinerary was reported to the Vietnam authorities, and the police followed her and took pictures of her all the way. It is said that Su's plan to attend an event hosted by Thadeus Nguyễn Văn Lý, the well-known father of Vietnam's anti-government movement, was the cause of the incident. Su herself said she has no idea why she was obstructed and the Vietnam authorities clarified that her passport was not confiscated. ==CHEN WEI-HAI, representative of VECO== She used a tourist visa, which means she cannot participate in non-tourism events. However, we respect Taiwanese legislators, so we negotiated with the Vietnam authorities. Su may not have included visiting anti-government dissidents in her itinerary. Her visit to the Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation, which is the only place she visited besides traveling, was agreed by the Vietnam authorities. Su emphasized that it was a private itinerary, so she didn't contact TECO in advance. She will arrive in Taiwan on August 4. TRANSLATED BY:ARIEL HSIEH
