On July 10, Bruce Bridgeman, a visiting professor from the University of California, Santa Cruz was struck and killed by a bus while on a pedestrian crossing on Renai Road in Taipei. The crossing had no English warnings to alert pedestrians to the fact that the buses in just one lane run opposite to all the other one-way lanes on the road. Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je said he knows most signs in the city are in Chinese and he would work on making road signs more international in the future.
Opposite the Howard Plaza Hotel on Renai Road, buses in one lane run in the opposite direction to traffic in all the other lanes. A 71- year old American professor crossed the road on July 10 without realizing this and was killed by a bus while on the pedestrian crossing.

This foreigner received a serious blow to the head and chest.
==LIN KUANG-HSIEN Taipei City Police Traffic Division==
We will take the video recorder from the bus and check it and give it to investigators for clarification on road signs at the time
This section of road has no English signs and Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je admitted that it was not an international-level environment.
==KO WEN-JE Taipei City Mayor==
Currently many of our road signs are only in Chinese, they are not international, maybe foreigners don't understand or don't notice that the traffic in that lane was opposite to all the other lanes.
==CHANG JER-YANG Commissioner, Taipei City Govt, Dept. of Transport.==
Maybe if we added a 'look around' or may be a 'look right and left' to remind you to look at all sides before walking, we could add those sort of signs
Statistics from the Taipei City Police Traffic Division show that there was one accident in the first six months of the year preceding this death, so they would not consider changing the single lane which runs contrary to all the other lanes.

或者說 look right and left
