AGRICULTURE MINISTER SUPPORTS EGG FACTORIES|林聰賢赴彰化蛋雞場 幫蛋農加油挽買氣
The Minister of Agriculture Lin Tsong-Hsien, visited a Changhua egg factory in an effort to save the reputation of the county's eggs. Over the next two days results from six factories' tests for dioxin are to be published, but Lin announced early that the dioxin levels were not over standard. Minister of Agriculture Lin Tsong-hsien, and Changhua County magistrate visited a Changhua egg factory at Beidou and ate eggs, calling on consumers not to be afraid. ==NS== Delicious and safe ! Don't worry ! In the first official report, the Hong Chang egg factory had dioxin levels over standard in its eggs while Junyi and Caiyuan were also implicated. The COA announced that in the second report on six egg factories, test results showed that none had dioxin results over standard. ==LIN TSONG-HSIEN COA Minister== The Taiwan Agricultural Chemicals and Toxic Substances Research Institute gave me information that Changhua and the six egg factories do not have dioxin over national standards, or over European standards, they are all lower. Hung Chang eggs are widely suspected to have dioxin and the results from the COA's toxic substances research and National Cheng Gong University's toxic chemical research center are different. Lin emphasized that environmental and agricultural units undertook repeated testing before making the announcement. Changhua County Magistrate Wei Ming-ku said that the local government health bureau seized Hung Chang's chickens before they were destroyed so that they could test them and find the source of the dioxin. ==WEI MING-KU Changhua County Magistrate== The Bureau of Health kept the test results for the bodies of the Hung Chang chickens. We hope that we will be able to trace if the dioxin was from the environment, the water, or the land. The source of the dioxin has still not been uncovered. Hung Chang which had above standard dioxin levels in its eggs used a feedstock that was sourced from a subcontracted factory. What was in the feed still remains unknown.
