Taipower Guarantees Stable Power Supply 核二2號機再28天除役 台電忙調度因應

The second nuclear power plant's second reactor will be decommissioned on March 14, and there are worries about an insufficient electricity supply during the summer. Taipower guaranteed a stable supply, saying it has already adjusted its annual maintenance schedule accordingly and Datan Power Plant's Unit 8 is scheduled to go online in June.

Acting Taipower Chairperson Tseng Wen-sheng attended a public event on Feb. 14. He became annoyed when reporters asked him about electricity rates.

Earlier this year, Tseng revealed that Taipower's cumulative loss during the past two years was over NT$540 billion and he doesn't want to be known as the chairperson who presided over the biggest loss in the company's history. Taipower said a price deliberation meeting will be held in March, and it will inform it of its financial situation. Scholars say costs need to be aptly reflected to ensure Taipower won't go bankrupt.

Liao Huei-chu, Professor, Dept. of Economics, TKU: “The price has to rise because if it doesn't, Taipower probably will go bankrupt. From the perspective of energy saving and carbon reductions, I personally believe that it needs to be increased for companies.”

The electricity supply has also come under scrutiny. The second nuclear power plant's second reactor will be decommissioned on March 14, and there are worries that blackouts will occur during the summer as a result.

Wu Chin-chung, Spokesperson, Taipower: “The annual maintenance was moved up to the fourth quarter last year and January and February for units that were scheduled to undergo it in April or May. That means that after the second nuclear power plant's second reactor is decommissioned, they will be able to provide electricity.”

Datan Power Plant's Unit 8 is scheduled to go online in June at the earliest, so Taipower believes the electricity supply will be stable.

台電代理董事長曾文生上午出席家電活動，不過一被問到敏感電價問題，曾文生面露不悅。

電價漲不漲？曾文生的壓力全寫在臉上。因為今年初曾文生曾透露，這2年台電累計虧損超過5400億元，他實在不想當一名代理任內卻虧損最多的董事長。台電回應，關於電價調整議題，3月會適時向電價審議會，反映台電虧損狀況。學者表示，得適時反映電價成本，台電才不會面臨倒閉危機。

淡江大學經濟系教授廖惠珠指出：「以這種純粹能源腳步的這種供需成本反映來講，真的是要漲，因為不漲的話，台電真的大概要倒，從這個節能減碳的角度，企業界我個人認為是要漲。」

除了電價問題引發關注，關於供電問題，恐怕也成為台電的燙手山芋。因為核二2號機將在3月14日除役，外界憂心今年夏天會不會發生停電事故？

台電發言人吳進忠表示：「把原來在4、5月要歲修的機組，提前在去年的第4季，今年的1、2月就來進行歲修，所以在核二2號機除役以後，它就能夠恢復來供電。」

透過調整歲修時間，加上大潭電廠燃氣機組8號機，預計最快6月加入上線調度，確保供電無虞。
