Knife-wielding Man Kills Convenience Store Clerk 持刀刺死超商店員 嫌犯遭檢方聲押

Police have arrested a man surnamed Chiang who stabbed a convenience store worker to death. Chiang's lawyer says Chiang is on long-term medication and knows he killed someone, but doesn't feel like he killed someone.

On the morning of the 21st, a convenience store worker in Taoyuan was stabbed to death by a customer after he asked the customer to put on a mask. The assailant has been detained.

Chao Yen-li, Deputy Chief Prosecutor, Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office: “The defendant, surnamed Chiang, was questioned by prosecutors. Due to the severity of this crime and several attempts to flee, the court approved our application to detain him.”

The assailant, surnamed Chiang, was arrested at the scene. Chiang's lawyer says he is on medication long-term and has a fragmented memory. According to the lawyer, Chiang knows he killed someone but doesn't feel like he killed someone. After hearing witness testimonies and reviewing CCTV footage, prosecutors detained Chiang incommunicado. Chiang faces at least 10 years in prison and a heavy fine.

Cheng Chi-hsiung, President, Taoyuan District Court: “The defendant kept talking about this while being questioned. We will order a psychiatric evaluation if needed. ”

Victim's Father: “I'm heartbroken. I hope the prosecutors will do their job and society will give us justice.”

An autopsy was performed on the 22nd to confirm the cause of death. The victim's father was present and expressed hopes that society will give the family justice.

桃園地檢署襄閱主任檢察官趙燕利表示:「被告蔣姓男子經檢察官訊問完畢後，認為其涉嫌殺人罪嫌重大，而且有反覆實施逃亡犯罪之虞，已向法院聲請羈押並獲准。」

蔣姓男子作案後當場被逮，到案辯稱長期服藥、記憶片段，知道有殺人，但感覺不到自己殺人，法官訊問後認為依證人證述、現場監視器畫面、檢方筆錄和現場採證紀錄，確實可以認定被告犯嫌重大，犯最輕本刑為10年以上有期徒刑重罪，且有逃亡之虞，裁定羈押不禁見。

桃園地方法院庭長鄭吉雄指出:「本院法官訊問時，被告確實有這樣主張，但是此部分的話，牽扯到責任能力的部分，就留待將來偵查中，是否要囑託專業的檢定機關為鑑定。」

死者父親則表示:「孩子養到30歲了，被他(殺死)很不捨，就讓檢察官去辦，社會還給我們一個公道就好。」

桃園地檢署檢察官會同法醫22日一早前往桃園殯儀館進行遺體解剖，以釐清確切死因。死者父親也親自到現場，相當難過，覺得兒子死得很冤枉，希望社會還他們一個公道。
