Many people opted to spend the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend in Hualien and Taitung, causing accommodation rates to soar and leaving Taipei empty. Taipei's business hotels are currently refraining from raising rates and also continuing with special promotions.
People who came to Taipei from southern Taiwan to spend the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend enjoy breakfast at their hotel. There were no congestion and crowds in downtown Taipei this year.

Hualien and Taitung are the most popular destinations during this long weekend, and people have found it hard to book rooms. Some reported hotels asking for NT$5,000 to NT$6,000 a night. Meanwhile, business hotels in the greater Taipei area are maintaining the special rates they offered during the disease prevention period.
It's a lot cheaper compared to before.
The hotels cost about NT$5,000 to NT$6,000 in Hualien and Taitung. In Taipei, it's only NT$2,000 to NT$3,000, which is a big difference.
The Taiwanese people have no way of traveling abroad right now, but they really want to travel. However, northern Taiwan mostly has business hotels, not resorts. There's a difference.
New Taipei City hotels say hotels in Taipei and New Taipei City will only do good business on the first two days of the long weekend. In terms of attractions, their downtown areas are no match for central and southern Taiwan. Moreover, numerous large-scale events and activities have been canceled.
It would be difficult for Taipei and New Taipei City to see the same results as Hualien and Taitung. Rates have also fallen by NT$1,000 compared to the same period last year.
The two cities have many hotels, so the competition is fierce. Moreover, foreign tourists from Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, and South Korea aren't able to come because of the epidemic. The hospitality industry says it is still unknown whether the situation will improve during the rest of the summer.

端午連假，花東地區熱門景點大爆滿，甚至在訂房網站「一房難求」，有旅客觀察到，花東有的飯店，一晚漲到5、6千塊，反而大台北地區的商務型旅館，多半還維持在疫情期間的優惠水平。
國旅遊客表示：「便宜很多，跟之前比便宜很多。」

北市商旅業者 許卉嬅表示：「因為現在台灣人，他可能沒辦法出國，但是他極度想要度假，所以在台北、北部區域，都是商務型的飯店，不是度假型為主，所以還是會有差別。」
新北市的商務旅館業者也說，雙北只會在端午連假第一、二天，生意比較好；以國旅來說，市區的觀光魅力不敵中南部，而且不少大型活動、展覽取消，難帶動人潮。
新北市旅館商業同業公會理事長 曾美絹表示：「雙北的部分，可能要像花東比較困難，而且房價都比去年，大概跌了1千塊。」
雙北旅館多、競爭激烈，加上港澳、日韓等外籍旅客，因為疫情無法到訪，接下來的暑假期間，台北國旅市場能否回溫？業者也都表示還要再觀望。
