Lai. Tsai Send Messages to Each Other Through Media|蔡再向賴喊話合作 "1+1一定大於2"

The race continues to heat up between the two contenders for the Democratic Progressive Party's presidential nomination, President Tsai Ing-wen and her former Premier William Lai. Lai recently shared his thoughts on a movie that he saw, and used the opportunity to say that he hopes the primary won't be postponed. Meanwhile, Tsai sent a message to Lai during an interview, saying "one plus one is definitely greater than two" and supporters are hoping they will work together.


President Tsai Ing-wen showed up at the GTI Asia Taipei Expo and Online Game Expo 2019 on Apr. 25, and played a few games. Tsai is hoping to win the Democratic Progressive Party's presidential nomination in the upcoming primary, and has spent a lot of time shoring up her online support recently. For example, she took part in an online broadcast. At the request of the presenter, she sent a message to her rival, former Premier William Lai.

Does the president have anything to get off her chest and say to Premier Lai? Look into that camera and tell him. Should I call him William or former Premier Lai? One plus one is definitely greater than two. Supporters want to see us working together.

The talk about canceling the primary is a rumor, and a malicious rumor at that. Chairperson Cho has worked really hard during this period. The "two" I was referring to was not the distance to "malice," what I said was "one plus one is greater than two." This is the expectation of our supporters. We are our party's statesmen, and we should not cause our supporters to worry.

Tsai has used several recent opportunities to send messages to Lai. As to when the two will meet, that will depend on the arrangements of the DPP's central committee. Both Tsai and Lai are scheduled to attend an anti-nuclear protest on Apr. 27, and people are wondering if they will share a stage. Lai does not have any administrative resources at his disposal as he seeks to win the primary, and therefore he is taking it at his own pace.

He recently shared his thoughts about a movie on Facebook, and spoke about the rumors that the primary would be canceled. He said if this happens, the distance to "malice" will be shortened.

If we really arrive at the unfortunate action of canceling the primary, the Democratic Progress Party will approach very, very close to malice. This will not only make it harder for the DPP to win the trust of the public, but it will also be the darkest day for Taiwan's democratic society.

Both candidates are doing their utmost to garner popular support and appeal to the public as the primary approaches.

總統 蔡英文表示：「沒收初選的這種說法確實是謠言，而且是很惡意的謠言，卓主席這段時間也辛苦了，我說的2不是那個與惡距離的那個惡，是1加1大於2，這個是我們支持者的期待，我們作為黨的政治人物，也不能夠讓我們的支持者過分的憂慮。」

蔡總統利用機會再向賴清德喊話，但何時蔡賴會，要尊重黨中央的安排，不過，週六的廢核遊行，蔡總統和賴清德兩個人都將參加，有沒有可能公開同台，備受關注。為了爭取黨內初選，沒有行政資源挹注的賴清德，用自己的步調前進，在臉書上發表看電影的心得，面對沒收初選的傳聞，他表示，如果真是這樣，將與惡的距離非常近。

前行政院長 賴清德(108.04.24)表示：「如果真的不幸走到(沒收初選)這個地步的話，民進黨真的離惡的距離就非常非常近，不僅僅是對民進黨來講很難取信於社會，對台灣民主社會恐怕也會是最黑暗的一天。」

民進黨總統初選，進入延長賽，兩個人卯足全力拚聲量，拼人氣，蔡賴對決，持續升溫。
