Police say Lin wasn't arrested at the scene of the accident and his assistant, surnamed Wang, drove the car back to the accident site 15 minutes later. Will you withdraw from the election? Did you ask your aide to take the fall for you?

Reporters barrage Taipei City Councilor candidate Lin Kuan-hsun with questions following his arrest for driving under the influence, fleeing the scene of an accident, and asking an aide to take the fall for him. Lin's case has been transferred from Taipei Police's Zhongzheng Second Precinct to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office. Security footage obtained by the police show a car making a left turn at Lane 242 on Tingzhou Road Section 1 at 9 p.m. on the 22nd. Because the car was traveling too fast, it hit a female scooter driver. The car drove away and didn't return until 15 minutes later.

He did not stop or get out of his car after the accident. In other words, he fled the scene of the accident. Mr. Lin had a blood alcohol level of 0.3. We are still in the process of determining whether Mr. Lin was the one driving the car.

Police questioned Lin and his aide early on the 23rd. Lin admitted to driving drunk, but denied asking his aide to take the fall. The Kuomintang, meanwhile, said Lin would be severely disciplined if he is guilty.

Everyone agrees there should be a zero-tolerance policy towards drunk driving. If the charges are true, he will receive the maximum punishment.

In a statement, Lin issued a public apology and admitted to driving under the influence. Lin and Wang have been charged with, respectively, fleeing the scene of an accident and public endangerment, and falsifying evidence.
