COMPUTER SIMULATED DRILLS ASSESS DEFENSE CAPABILITY|漢光電腦兵推模擬共軍來襲 美退將觀摩

The 33rd Hanguang military exercises kicked off yesterday with a five-day stretch of computer-aided war games simulating an invasion by China in 2025. The MND emphasized that the photos showed the planes in routine training. The Hanguang military drill started yesterday with a five day, four night computer warfare exercise. It simulates a 2025 invasion by the People's Liberation Army of China. The MND seeks to verify whether combat capability is sufficient to resist a PLA offensive. The US sent retired generals to lead an observation team, and provide relevant recommendations. ==CHEN CHUNG-CHIH MND spokesperson == The military drills start today, it is a whole series and you will have to forgive me for not making a public statement on this. ==CHIEH CHUNG asst. researcher, Nat'l Policy Foundation== The observation team will make some suggestions, but its more important that these are detailed suggestions. After they return to the US, they will compile these and pass them to the US Department of Defense's Pacific Command and we will discuss them so we can communicate with the US on military cooperation which is very important. Chieh says that it is an opportunity for the US to see Taiwan's defense capability and how to assist in the event of any tense situation in the Taiwan Strait.
