The military coup attempt in Turkey was over within one day. This is the most serious coup attempt that has occurred in President Erdogan's political life. The coup left 265 people dead and nearly 1,500 wounded. President Erdogan vowed to make traitors pay for the attempt. The Turkish Government also demanded the US extradite the Muslim cleric Gulen, who lives in Pennsylvania. Thousands of supporters of Turkish President Erdogan gathered on the streets of Istanbul celebrating the failure of the coup. ==PRESIDENT ERDOGAN'S SUPPORTERS== Victory to democracy! The military coup ended within 24 hours, leaving 265 people dead. President Erdogan vowed to have traitors pay for the attempt. The government crackdown arrested nearly 3,000 military officers and 2,745 judges and prosecutors. The Turkish government demanded the US extradite Turkish Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen who is being accused by President Erdogan of being the mastermind of the coup attempt. Gulen advocated social movement and has many followers in Turkey, but he emphasizes that he did not support the military coup. ==FETHULLAH GULEN Muslim cleric== The coup maybe attempted by the ones who sympathize the opposition party, or maybe by the supporters of Nationalist Movement Party. There are many possibilities. I had left Turkey for 16 years, and I am not following the news of Turkey, therefore I cannot comment on it. The Bosphorus Bridge and the Istanbul International Airport reopened. However many international flights were cancelled. The US Incirlik Airbase located in southern Turkey is being accused and shut down by Turkish government as the base may be related to the coup attempt. The shut down directly affects US operations against ISIS.
