On the Hsiung Feng III missile launch incident that caused one dead and three injured, yesterday, President Tsai extended her condolences to the family of the boat captain killed by the incident and apologized on behalf of the nation. The victim's family are now asking for compensation and a thorough investigation. After arriving fishing boat captain's residence, President Tsai offered her religious well-wish, and hold on to hands of Captain Huang's widow. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen says President Tsai made an apology on behalf of the nation. The victim's family had eight requests to the President including a thorough investigation, compensations for building a new boat and others. ==CHEN CHU Kaohsiung City Mayor== President felt sorry to the family, so she apologized on behalf of the nation. When President Tsai attended the joint commencement at the R.O.C. Military Academy in Fengshan, she mentioned the missile incident in her speech. President Tsai stated this incident had damaged morale of armed forces, but she will stand along with soldiers. ==TSAI ING-WEN R.O.C. President == I will not say everything with our armed forces is fine. If I do, then I am not a responsible commander-in-chief. I am not evasive, nor be irresponsible. Our military needs reforms, drastic reforms. President Tsai's mood was obviously different than she attended anniversary celebration last month at the same academy. President hopes to minimize the missile incident impacts on armed forces.
