The Holy See of the Vatican City held a 70,000 people canonization ceremony on the 14th. Before the ceremony, Pope Francis welcomed the incoming delegation from Taiwan, which includes Vice President Chen Chien-jen and his wife, and twice asked the Vice President to send his regards to President Tsai Ing-wen. In this ceremony, a total of 7 people were canonized, with Archbishop Óscar Romero and Pope Paul VI named saints.

The Holy See of the Vatican City held a ceremony on October 14 to confer title of nobility to seven late bishops. Before the ceremony, Pope Francis met with visiting Vice President Chen Chien-jen and his wife. Chen said that the Pope instantly recognized them, he twice asked them to send his regard to President Tsai Ing-wen and said he will pray for Taiwan. Chen said when he asked Pope Francis about the possibility of having archbishops visiting Taiwan in the future, the Pope responded with a smile. Before entering the venue, Chen ran into Juan Orlando Hernandez, the president of Honduras, and one of Taiwan's allies. The two took a picture together. Among the late archbishops that were honored are Beatus Paulus PP. VI, who spearheaded reform within the church, and Oscar Romero, the former archbishop in El Salvador who fought hard to improve the living condition of the poor.

Despite being weary and misunderstood, Beatus Paulus PP VI showcased, with his own deeds, the beauty and joy of devoting oneself wholeheartedly in following Jesus Christ. And Archbishop Romero has sacrificed his own safety and wellbeing to evangelize the poor and the public in his country.

In order to pay homage to the late archbishops, the Pope used the Holy Grail and white woolen shawl of the late Beatus Paulus PP. VI. during the ceremony. He also wears, under his rope, the holy belt of the late Oscar Romero, which was stained with Romero's blood after he was assassinated by right-wing extremists in 1980. Many pilgrims from El Salvador who attended the ceremony said that they have traveled a long way for the ceremony, and that to see their late Archbishop Romero finally honored by the Pope is an exemplary deed for the future generations.
