KMT Questions CEC's Election Day Processes|年底投票方式確定 選舉.公投分開"領投"

The Central Election Commission has confirmed, that the ballots for the year-end nine-in-one elections and referendums will be separate, after discussing the issue with local election officials. This means voters will get ballots in two stages. In response, the Kuomintang questioned the CEC's tactics, saying they intend to influence the Kuomintang's referendum results.

Local elections will be held at the end of the year, and it is expected the public will vote on several referendums at the same time. The Central Election Commission recently met with local election officials, and decided on the procedure for election day. Voters will first receive the local election ballots, and then receive the referendum ballots. Meanwhile, citizens who are over the age of 18 and therefore eligible to vote in referendums but under the age of 20 and therefore ineligible to vote in local elections will directly receive their referendum ballots.

There are different thresholds for election ballots and referendum ballots, so it is necessary to have two name registers. This also means the registers have to be made separately to avoid confusion. Election personnel will know that the procedure is to get the ballots to complete the ballot counting process.

The CEC says ballots will be obtained separately as the thresholds for local elections and referendums differ to avoid confusion. It will not be known how many referendums there will be until October. There will be a separate ballot for each referendum. However, to be able to produce them in time for voting day on Nov. 24, they will all be white. The ballots for three to four referendums will be cast into one box. This method did not sit well with the Kuomintang, which believes it makes it easier to cheat.

This method violates the guiding principles behind ballot counting, and facilitates cheating. It also greatly increases the ballot counting time, greatly delaying results. I believe this method is extremely unreasonable and inappropriate.

Meanwhile, pan-green lawmakers claim the method can facilitate the voting process, and it is not inappropriate. The ballots for the local elections will be counted before the ballots for the referendums. The CEC says the ballot counting process will be completed before the night is over.
