Several days ago, Taiwan-based Japanese entertainer Kenji Kasai and his wife were seen seeking medical treatment at a clinic for their three-month-old daughter. Medical personnel discovered the baby's condition was serious and suspected abuse, subsequently reporting the case to authorities. The baby died on Aug. 8. Prosecutors have opened an investigation, and have prohibited Kasai from leaving the country on the suspicion of "injury causing death."
What really happened to your daughter?
Journalists bombard Taiwan-based Japanese entertainer Kenji Kasai with questions outside the Taipei District Prosecutors Office. Kasai did not respond, and boarded a taxi. On Aug. 4, Kasai brought his three-month-old daughter, who was unconscious, to a clinic for medical treatment. Medical personnel discovered the baby had a skull fracture and cerebral edema. Her injuries were so severe that they suspected child abuse and notified authorities. Kasai and his wife were seen crying outside the emergency room. Kasai also posted a message on Facebook, saying he had accidentally knocked his daughter's head against his clavicle because he is a new father, and he did not abuse her. On Aug. 8, the baby died.
Later that day, Taipei District Prosecutors Office prosecutors inspected the baby's body. The next day, they called in Kasai for questioning. They have prohibited Kasai from leaving the country on the suspicion of "injury causing death." An autopsy will be performed on Aug. 10 to clarify the facts of this death.
