A very embarrassing moment for Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Co. general manager Wu Yin-ning. Wu had previously tried to avert interpellations at the Taipei City Council, and the consequences came back hard. On July 31, Wu had to present a report to the Finance and Construction Committee, but she was not only heavily criticized by the city councilors, and was voted to be removed from the room without being able to present.
Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Co. general manager Wu Yin-ning was removed from the conference room before she could even open her mouth to deliver a report to the Taipei City Council's Finance and Construction Committee. Committee convener Chung Hsiao-ping urged her to leave, as Wu had previously refused to appear in front of the entire council for interpellations. The majority of the city councilors in attendance said there is no need to deliver reports with this attitude of disrespecting the council and the councilors' supervision authority. Meanwhile, Democratic Progressive Party Taipei City Councilor Kao Chia-yu urged her colleagues to give Wu a chance to explain.
We need to know her reason for not coming in for interpellations.
A general manager who disrespects the council has completely and utterly lost face.
The issue was put to a vote, and the councilors voted to remove Wu. Kuomintang city councilors also criticized Wu one after another. However, Wu refused to change her attitude, even though the company has also been fined by the Taipei City Market Administration Office.
I have repeatedly replied to the Taipei City Market Administration Office, and it's not like the city councilors have said, that they haven't received information. If city councilors have not received information, it may be because the Taipei City Market Administration Office did not provide them with information or because it is not satisfied with this information. This is why I tried to get information and was subsequently fined. However, I will continue to argue for what is right.
Wu said she hopes this issue won't be over-politicized, and added she was disappointed she wasn't able to deliver her report. Meanwhile, Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je said that even if people don't like appearing in front of the council, they still have to, just like "ugly daughters-in-law must visit with their in-laws."
You go to the committee meeting, but not the council meeting. However, didn't the committee also kick the crap out of you nevertheless? There's a saying, which is that ugly daughters-in-law must still visit with their in-laws. In other words, you have to deal with what you have to deal with. Even if you don't like the council, you still have to show up to take care of matters, especially now that the committee speaker has spoken.
Ko added further argument will not resolve matters. He said he has already asked Deputy Mayor Chen Chin-jun, who also serves as the chairperson of the Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Co., to call on the Council of Agriculture to clarify the issues regarding the controversies surrounding the company. He will personally pay a visit if matters cannot be resolved.
