This is not "Hamlet." Not to mention, I'm the king now, not the prince.
StarLux Airlines executives including Chair Chang Kuo-wei and President Huo Jian-hua held the company's first press conference on May 8. Delivery of StarLux's fleet of 10 A321neo airliners will start next October and the carrier will start flying in early 2020.
All of our swords are sharp swords. We won't be killing people slowly. We will be killing with a single stroke. We hope to develop both western and eastern North American routes within 10 years.
StarLux will initially focus on the eastern Asia and Hong Kong/Macau markets, with long-haul flights to western destinations in North America. It plans to serve at least 20 destinations by 2024. While company officials acknowledge the Taiwan market is already saturated, they have their sights set on developing Taiwan as a transit hub for international airlines.
StarLux Airlines will be going the high-end service route in the future. In other words, both sides of the M-shaped Society will have airlines serving them. Buds will sprout.
Experts say Chang's background as a pilot gives him a unique management perspective and there are definitely opportunities in the global market. However, market acceptance of the airline's service model will determine how successful the airline will be.
