On May 8, a resident in Tainan reported to the police that a neighbor was disturbing the peace and threatening to commit suicide. The police and firefighters were dispatched to his residence. But the man splashed them with hydrochloric acid, burning one firefighter and two police officers. Fortunately, none of them were seriously injured. The suspect however got away and the police discovered he was wanted for drug-related crimes.

The police and firefighters force open the door and enter the residence. The inhabitant, a man surnamed Chen, retreats while holding a weapon, and the police have to break down a second door. As the suspect was holding a weapon, the police could only use pepper spray on him. The suspect, meanwhile, managed to splash a liquid containing hydrochloric acid on the law enforcement officers, injuring one firefighter and two police officers.

At 4 a.m. on May 8, a resident of Tainan's Rende District called the police to report that a neighbor, who was thought to have mental problems, was disturbing the peace and threatening to commit suicide. The police and firefighters arrived at the scene, and Chen attacked them.

He splashed us with an unknown liquid while we were running from the second floor to the first floor and turning the corner on the stairs.

The police forced open the door and used pepper spray, but the suspect kept resisting. He escaped in the chaos.

The police say they can only use batons and pepper spray against aggressors. This time, they were attacked. The firefighter sustained the most severe injury, and is still hospitalized and under observation. The two police officers sustained lesser injuries and have already been discharged. The police are currently looking for Chen, who was already wanted for drug-related crimes.
