Besides traffic congestion, your holiday plan may also be affected by unfavorable weather condition. On Apr. 6, temperatures will drop due to the influence of a cold air mass from China, with the daily lows at 13 degrees. The rain will ease up on Apr. 7, but the influence of transborder air pollution will become more obvious, which will take its toll on the air quality in western Taiwan.
All of Taiwan experienced fairly good weather on Apr. 5, with conditions ranging from clear to cloudy. In some areas, temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius. However, the weather will change beginning on Apr. 6 due to the influence of a cold air mass from China. Central and northern Taiwan will experience rain and thunderstorms, while southern and eastern Taiwan will experience showers. The thermometer could drop to 13 to 14 degrees Celsius.
The low temperature on early Saturday morning will be 14 to 15 degrees in central and northern Taiwan. On Sunday, the low temperature could be around 13 to 14 degrees in the central and northern regions.
Meanwhile, the air quality in western Taiwan has been poor during this Tomb Sweeping Festival long weekend. Several air quality monitoring stations flashed an orange alert on the morning of Apr. 5, which means the air is unhealthy for sensitive groups. Several stations in central Taiwan flashed a red alert. The Environmental Protection Administration says the rain will slow down air pollutants on Apr. 6. However, as the weather will become cool and dry on Apr. 7, the effects of transborder air pollutants from China will become more obvious.
There is some relatively dirtier air in northern China. It will affect Taiwan's air quality along with the dry and cool air.
The EPA says western Taiwan can expect orange and red alerts between the afternoon of Apr. 6 and Apr. 7. The air quality will begin to improve on Apr. 8.
