A U.S. warship again sails near disputed island in the South China Sea. The USS Stethem on Jul 2 sailed within 12 nautical miles of Triton Island. Triton Island is part of the Paracel Islands. China, Taiwan and Vietnam all claim sovereignty over it. Beijing calls the move a serious political and military provocation. ==CCTV News Anchor== The USS Stethem on Jul 2 entered without permission the waters of the Paracel Islands. The army swiftly dispatched battle ships and jets to warn off the Stethem. The maneuver marks the second time since US president Donald Trump took office that US military vessels have entered disputed waters in the South China Sea. The first being USS Dewey sailing near Mischief Reef of the Spratly Islands in May. Washington has in recent weeks sought to ramp up pressure on Beijing through talks of an arms sale to Taiwan as well as putting sanctions on Chinese companies that do business with North Korea, but a White House statement on Jul 2 shows more accord than discord, saying that Trump and Xi have both in a phone call reiterated their commitments to de-nuclearize the Korean Peninsula. The two leaders are scheduled to meet this week during the G20 summit in Germany. TRANSLATED BY:JEFF CHANG
