NATO LEADERS MEET TRUMP, IS COALITION DISCUSSED|川普會見北約領袖 促加入打擊IS聯盟

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump arrived in Brussels on May 24 to meet with NATO leaders. Trump's visit took place shortly after the Manchester terrorist attack, and many believe Trump will secede in persuading NATO to join in a coalition against the Islamic State, but success will be less likely in making all NATO member states spend at least 2% of their GDP on defense.
The streets of Brussels are dotted with mocking signs and costumes to greet US President Donald Trump on his visit. After meeting with the King of Belgium, Trump visited NATO's headquarters in Brussels for a mini-summit with leaders of NATO members. One aim of Trump's visit is to persuade NATO to formally join the coalition against the Islamic State as an organization. 28 of NATO's 68 members are currently part of the efforts as individual states, but those in favor of NATO participation as an organization say that the incorporation of NATO in the coalition will show the solidarity of member-states and help coordinate state actions more effectively.

A couple of the (NATO) countries are still thinking about it. I have had meetings actually with one of those. I think they're going to support NATO joining and becoming a member of the ISIS fight.
France and Germany, the key players behind the decision, have changed their minds about joining the coalition after the terrorist on Manchester earlier this week. However, other NATO members still have reservations about the US insistence on defense spending commitments.

2% of GDP was a target they all agreed to. I think you can expect the president to be very tough on them.
First Lady Melania Trump has also been a focus of attention during the visit. Both Melania and Trump's daughter Ivanka were dressed in black with black head coverings when the family met with Pope Francis in the Vatican. In contrast, Melania was not dressed according to Islamic traditions in the family's earlier visit to Saudi Arabia. Analysis by the BBC pointed out that the Vatican has strict restrictions on the dress of foreign visitors, including head coverings for female visitors. Saudi Arabia is less strict about female visitors' dress, so Melania did not cover her head during the visit, though she dressed more conservatively than usual.
