OBIKE HAS NO PROPER PARKING SPACES, WILL BE FINED|obike隨處停放亂象多 無法可管引爭議

Singaporean bike-sharing startup oBike launched its services in Hualien this May. Unlike the YouBike system in Taipei and New Taipei City, oBike does not rely on bicycle stations; its bicycles can be rented and returned anywhere using its smartphone application. Local residents complain that the bikes have brought chaos, as they are parked in random spots, on sidewalks and even at people's homes To encourage residents using green transportation means, the county government introduced oBike to Hualien residents, the bicycle sharing system from Singapore. However the first one thousand oBikes were randomly parked. Controversy arises when people see oBikes parked at spaces reserved for scooters. ==MISS TSENG Hualien Resident== The bike should be parked at parking space for scooters, in order to avoid such disorder. == MR. LO Hualien Resident == Follow the parking rules, it's more convenient this way. Otherwise chaos don't look good. Hualien County Government explained, introducing oBike is beneficial to environmental protection and tourism. As to randomly parked oBikes, county government is enforcing the Punishment of Violation of Road Traffic Regulations. The last user of oBike will receive violation ticket for random parking. ==PENG WEI-TSU Director, Hualien County Tourism Dept.== Bicycles parked at the area where they are not supposed to, or left in parks, or anywhere they don't belong, we are to clamp down on random parking. As to this part, we are clarifying and negotiating with county government. Some oBikes were maliciously being damaged and not operable, the oBike Company is to seek compensations from last users. The company urges renter to report damage via app and avoid dispute.
