TEACHERS MUST DISCLOSE REAL NAMES IN NEW RULE FOR CRAM SCHOOLS|率先全國 北市補習班.社大"實名制"上路

The Ministry of education is about to amend the Supplementary and Continuing Education Law, requiring cram schools to provide their instructors' actual names on their student recruitment ads and while teaching. However, before the law is amended, the Taipei City Government already announced its implementation, starting from May.12. I have applied for three police criminal record certificates and have printed copies of my graduation certificate. Through the certificates, cram school teachers' identity and their real names can be known at once. With their identity clarified, these cram school teachers no longer have to worry about being inspected by education authorities. To avoid loopholes in cram school management, on May 12, Taipei City Government's Department of Education announced that both cram school and community college teachers in Taipei City should reveal their real names. However, they are allowed to add pseudonyms after their real names. ==MU HUI-YI Life-long Education Section Chief, DOE, Taipei City Govt. == On business signs, cram schools are only allowed to use the names they have registered and which have been approved by education authorities. We also hope that cram school teachers can use their real names as far as possible. However, they can put their pseudonyms in brackets after their real names. ==CHANG HAO-JAN, Dir-Gen., Taipei City Supplementary Education Association== After the law is amended, we will see how the Ministry of Education is going to deal with the problem. There should be a management platform for cram schools in every city and county. Whether cram school teachers' real names and pseudonyms will be shown together requires further discussion. Taipei City Supplementary Education Association said that cram schools are willing to cooperate with the new rule. However, it hopes that the government can give cram schools a grace period because changing information on business signs and adverts requires time and money. It also hopes that the government can amend the Supplementary and Continuing Education Law more swiftly. According to the Ministry of Education, currently, all community college school teachers use their real names. Within the following two weeks, the ministry will ask cram school businesses to log onto a management platform for cram schools in Taipei City to update their instructors' information. The ministry will also set up a notification and a protection mechanism to prevent sexual harassment and sexual assaults.
