The Pension Reform Committee has released the Executive Yuan's official proposal for pension reform. Specifically on the 18% preferential saving rate, the proposal is that civil servants and teachers with an income of NT$32,160 and under will continue enjoying the 18% preferential savings interest rate. The Ministry of National Defense is working on a separate pension reform proposal for members of the armed forces. Veteran Affairs Council Minister Lee Hsiang-jow said that no decisions have been made, but that they will do their utmost to ensure fairness. Lin said that the purpose of the income floor is to protect the disadvantaged and that it will have a minimal impact on the finances of the pension fund. He also said that the Ministry of Defense's pension reform proposal for the armed forces should be consistent with this standard.
