IGPASC RE-OPENS 60 YR-OLD LAND SALE CASE RULING FROM 2011|國發院案定讞 黨產會5月開聽證會.重啟調查

The Yeh family in Taipei City's Muzha area sued the KMT for seizing family land 60 years ago for the site that currently houses the party's National Development Institute. However, the final appeals court ruled against the Yeh family in 2011. The family took the case to the Ill-Gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee last October, and the Committee has now decided to reopen the investigation. Hearings will be held this May to determine whether the land was taken with insufficient compensation. This will be the first time the Committee handles a case that has already been settled in court. Descendants of the Yeh family say that the KMT forced their father to sell family land to the party at unreasonably low prices, for the site that now houses the party's National Development Institute. However, because it was unable to provide sufficient evidence, the family lost the lawsuit it filed against the KMT in 2011. Last October, the family took the case to the Ill-Gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee, which has decided to hold hearings on the matter this May. ==YEH SUNG-JEN descendant of landowner== It's been 60 years since we suffered this injustice. We hope that the Committee will uncover the truth and prove that the court's decision was unfair to the public. This investigation marks the first time the Party Assets Committee has handled a case that was already settled in court. This case is a classic example of the executive infringing on the judiciary. The KMT said that the acquiring of the site could stand up to any level of scrutiny. The Party Assets Committee will investigate the size and price of the lot the Yeh family was forced to sell in the May hearings, to determine whether the compensation was "clearly insufficient."
