EIGHT MILITARY PERSONNEL TEST POSITIVE IN SECOND DRUG TEST|清泉崗又發現兩包毒品 複驗8人陽性

Urine tests have been given to all servicemen at a military airbase in Taichung after 53 bags of narcotics were found last month on the base's premises. So far 8 people have tested postive, and none of them seem to be pilots. However, here's the problem. These eight people were actually tested positive for a different narcotic, rather than the one that has been found. Prosecutors are now trying to determine what's going on. Military police found another two bags of narcotics in Ching Chuan Kang Air Force Base on February 24 and 27, the day on which Minister of National Defense Feng Shih-kuan paid his inspection visit. The quantity of narcotics has increased from 51 to 53 bags. Were the two bags the missing ones or intentionally dumped later? The military once said all soldiers had completed urine samples testing, but in fact, 252 soldiers have not yet been tested. ==KUO CHING-TUNG Dep. Chief Prosecutor, Taichung Dist. Prosecutors Office== The military informed us that some soldiers have regular days off, are travelling abroad or having parental leave or other types of legitimate absence. They are not on the base, thus have not had their urine tested. when these soldiers return to the base and they will then submit their urine for testing. Among the 2,303 soldiers first tested, 27 urine samples tested positive. However, the narcotics found in the base were the class two narcotics - amphetamines. The eight soldiers who did not pass the second test, had urine samples which tested positive for the class one narcotics. ==KUO CHING-TUNG Dep. Chief Prosecutor, Taichung Dist. Prosecutors Office== If urine samples tested positive, basically we only can prove the person did use drugs. As to those narcotics we found in the base, that is a separate crime, basically there is no need to mix the two together. Prosecutors have already obtained a quarter of all surveillance videos from Ching Chuan Kang Air Force Base and call detail records of suspects. The Ministry of Defense is awarding NT$100,000 to NT$500,000 for leads to solve the case.
