Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump heaped criticism on what he called purveyors of "fake news" on Friday at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference. And within a few hours of his speech, the White House blocked a number of news organizations, including CNN, the New York Times and the BBC from attending an informal briefing, a rare and surprising move that came amid Trump's escalating war against the media. ==DONALD TRUMP U.S. President== I am only against the fake news media or press - fake, fake. They have to leave that word. I'm against the people that make up stories and make up sources. They shouldn't be allowed to use sources unless they use somebody's name. U.S. President Donald Trump delivered an hour long speech at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland. Trump once again criticized fake news reported by news outlets. Trump pointed out news which used "anonymous sources" should have quoted real names, he said fake news media are people's enemies. However, the Associated Press responded that many White House officials frequently ask to be anonymous during talks with media. ==DONALD TRUMP U.S. President== They say that we can't criticize their dishonest coverage because of the First Amendment. You know they always bring up the First Amendment. And I love the First Amendment. Nobody loves it better than me, nobody. I mean, who uses it more than I do? A few hours after Trump's speech, the White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer barred BBC, New York Times, CNN, Los Angeles Times, Buzzfeed, and Politico from an off-camera press briefing; no reason was offered and the decision drew strong protests from reporters of these media. Spicer later replied that they don't need to do everything on camera every day. Media allowed for the off-camera briefing were ABC, Fox News, Reuters, the Washington Post and Breitbart News Network which was formerly led by the current White House Chief Strategist Bannon.
