CRASH COMPANY REQUIRED TO SUSPEND BUSINESS, GOVT. TO MONITOR ONE-DAY TOURS|蝶戀花遭勒令停業 觀光局檢討一日遊

After the fatal tour bus accident that killed 33 on Feb. 13, the company operating the tour, Iris Travel Service Company, was ordered by the Tourism Bureau on Feb. 14 to suspend its business. Many customers who had already paid deposits for upcoming tours went to the company yesterday in person for their refunds. In addition to requiring the Iris Travel Service to suspend their business, the Tourism Bureau is also going to investigate other domestic one day tours, and those which involve unreasonable itineraries will be made known to the public. Customers who had already paid their deposits to the travel company involved in the coach crash had to ring the doorbell and identify themselves before being let in to get their refund. A one day trip? Yes, yes. The Iris Travel Service Company Ltd. was required by the Tourism Bureau to suspend its business. Many long-term customers found out on its website. Mr. Lai who was going on a two day one night trip to Alishan had booked for five people. Each person cost NT$2,600 and he had paid a deposit of NT$5,000. Mr. Lai has taken four or five trips with the company and is a long-term customer. He said the company staff had a good service attitude, but since the company had been required to stop its business, he hoped it would review its business practices. ==MR. The Tourism Bureau used consumer protection legislation, citing serious death and injury, to halt the company's business immediately.
