Ubus announced on its Facebook page that starting from Feb. 13, it will begin to raise fares. The fare from Taipei to Kaohsiung was originally NT$399, and will be raised to NT$470. Taipei to Tainan will be raised to NT$370. Other passenger buses also intend to implement price increases, but the time and amount are still being developed. Carrying large pieces of luggage, there are many passengers at the national bus passenger terminal. Under the impact of the new Labor Standards Act amendment, Ubus announced on its Facebook page that, from Feb. 13, it will begin to raise fares, raising protest from frequent passengers. ==MEMBER OF PUBLIC== For those who take these buses frequently, it will be hard. ==MEMBER OF PUBLIC== For transport there is no option, you still have to use it, but of course our wages don't rise. From Feb. 13, Ubus will raise fares for 90 percent of its routes, with fares on main routes rising by an average increase of 22 percent. Taipei to Kaohsiung will rise by NT$50 to NT$80. Taipei to Taichung by NT$40 to NT$70, and Taipei to Tainan by NT$60 to NT$150. This is a rise of 68 percent from the promotional prices. The Taipei to Kaohsiung route was originally NT$399 in the promotional period and will rise to NT$470. The Taipei to Tainan line, will rise to NT$370. Ubus said due to the new labor regulations there was a substantial increase in overtime, coupled with the gradual rise in oil prices, so that the total operating costs have increased more than the company can bear. Thus it decided to adjust its fares. Not only Ubus announced price increases, but Ebus, Kuo Kuang and other companies are also ready to raise fares. ==WANG YING-CHIEH Vice Chair KUO KUANG== Rises have been approved by the DGH and we cooperate with the government by raising fares after the Lantern Festival. ==YANG HSIANG-SHU Gen. Mngr. Ebus == Apart from staff costs, the cost of fuel has risen as has the costs for our downstream business associates, all these have led to use needing to adjust fares Faced with the fare rises, the Directorate General of Highways said it had hoped that the bus transport industry would adjust its fares after the Lantern Festival, but the rises did not violate DGH agreements. TRANSLATED BY:CLARE LEAR
