NTU PROFESSOR DENIES FALSIFYING RESEARCH|論文被指造假 台大教授郭明良出面澄清

National Taiwan University Professor Kuo Min-liang, who has been accused of forging academic research, held a press conference yesterday to to speak publicly for the first time about the allegations. He denied of any wrongdoing and rumors that he had gone in to hiding. He stressed that he had been preparing documents that would help exonerate himself in the ongoing investigation. ==KUO MIN-LIANG, NTU Professor== Academia has suffered a serious impact, I sincerely apologize once again. Professor Kuo bowed down again for the suspicions over his dissertations. He reiterated his firm stance that his research team had never involved in faking. He explained further that the dissertation published in August, his team in October 20 found researcher doctor Cha Shih-ting's dissertation had three graphical errors. Professor Kuo asked the periodical to retract the dissertation, however Cha insisted there was no error. Professor Kuo decided to retract the dissertation and reported to the university. Finally the media reported this incident on November 10. ==KUO MIN-LIANG, NTU Professor== We found errors and initiated an investigation. We contacted the periodical for retraction. All those were done ahead of the media reporting the case. As to accepting bribery for writing the renowned medical doctor Yen Meng-lu as the co-author to the dissertation, Professor Kuo explained that the money was borrowed from his pal Dr. Yen and was used for the payment to his housing loan. Kuo said there were two dissertations that had Dr. Yen as the co-author. ==KUO MIN-LIANG NTU Professor== The two dissertations qualified for faculty promotion. Did Dr. Yen use these two dissertations for faculty promotion? The answer is no. Professor Kuo said, he accepts academic ethics and judicial investigation. The Ministry of Education had submitted the case to the Agency Against Corruption for verifying Professor Kuo's testimony.
