In Nigeria, a church still under construction collapsed and killed at least 160 churchgoers. Police sirens can be heard in the dark as firefighters rushed to rescue on this highway 10 km north of Naivasha in Kenya. A fuel tanker exploded and hit other vehicles. In Nigeria, a church in the capital Uyo collapsed on Dec 10 and killed at least 160 people during a ceremony to ordain a bishop. Witnesses said that the roof caved in and the building collapsed within a minute. Because the church is still under construction, girders fell and hit the worshippers. ==UDOM GABRIEL EMMANUEL, Nigeria Akwa Ibom State Governor== We see a lot of defects in the construction. We try as much as possible to bring those who were careless about this to book The governor said the collapse may be attributed to the developer's alleged use of substandard materials and hasty construction work. An investigation will soon be conducted over the matter.
