INTERMINISTERIAL GROUP SET UP TO TAKEOVER KMT ASSETS|不當黨產收歸國有 政院本週設"接管小組"

The KMT-owned Central Investment Co. and Hsinyutai Co. have been designated as illegal assets by the Ill-gotten Assets Committee, and their assets must now be handed over to the government. Premier Lin Chuan held a meeting on Nov. 28 to discuss how the matter should be handled and the conclusion is to set up an inter-ministerial takeover group this week. The KMT, now with its assets frozen and divested, is restructuring its organization. Staff being let go will receive their retirement pension and severance package by January next year. The Kuomintang-owned Central Investment Co. and Hsinyutai Co. were designated as illegal assets by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party's Ill-gotten Assets Committee. These two companies have other subsidiary companies under them, including media hotels and development companies. The shareholding structure is complex. Premier Lin Chuan will set up an interministerial group to handle the issues. ==HSU KUO-YUNG cabinet spokesperson== The Kumintang may undertake a legal injunction, or ask the Executive Yuan to halt its action, it still has some relevant legal recourse, but whatever it does, we will still go ahead and this won't affect the interministerial group. Hsu said the administrative action taken by the KMT won't affect the process. If the KMT apply to court and a suspension is upheld then the process will be halted. The KMT has been impacted by the process of freezing and recovery of its assets. It held a briefing for party employees, saying it aimed to complete final salary and retirement for for employees by next January. ==HU WEN-CHI Dep. According to management statistics, 738 party staff will be laid off and 310 recruited, so that final payments will be around NT$1.5 billion. Only half of November's wages have been paid.
