MOF AND FSC PLAN FOR US ELECTION AFTERMATH|美大選投票 傳政院要求財金部會提因應

Who gets elected as president of the United States is certainly something that will have an impact on the whole world. Here in Taiwan, the government is also preparing itself for either outcome. But the official response that we heard from Premier Lin Chuan yesterday afternoon was a rather diplomatic one. He said that whichever candidate gets elected, he believes that that person will continue to lead the world toward prosperity, peace and sustainability. The presidential election is underway in America. The Executive Yuan has instructed the Financial Supervisory Commission and the Ministry of Finance to submit a proposal in response to the financial market, the international capital flows, and the changes of the financial strategies. Premier Lin Chuan gave no direct response as to whether he has made preparations for the result of the election on November 8 afternoon, saying he hopes the next American president can continue making contributions to the world peace. ==LIN CHUAN, Premier== Whoever wins the election, we expect the new leader to continue making more contributions to the world's prosperity, peace and sustainable development. President Tsai Ing-wen convened the weekly policy coordination meeting on November 7, making four instructions on the new southbound policy: promoting more frequent high-level mutual visits of the nations targeted by the policy, reinforcing information control over private think tanks and cooperation with foreign counterparts, signing or renewing bilateral investment treaties or tax conventions, and concentrating resources on goals which could yield achievements in a short time span. ==LIN CHUAN, Premier== Of course, a new plan has just begun. The annual budget has not been passed and there are different phases during the process of implementation. The president expects us to carry out the plan. Besides, as to the issues of amendments to the Labor Standards Act, Premier Lin said he respects the final decision of the Legislative Yuan, hoping the negotiation and review of the whole process can be smooth and that the legislation can pass as soon as possible.
