NATIONAL IMMIGRATION AGENCY INVOLVED IN FAKE MARRIAGES|人蛇集團假結婚 移民署1專員涉入遭收押

A National Immigration Agency official surnamed Chen has allegedly been involved in helping human traffickers bring women from China to engage in prostitution in Taiwan under fake marriages. Chen was taken into custody on the early morning on Oct. 29. During the investigation of a Chinese woman who engaged in prostitution in Taiwan, the Taichung police found that a human trafficking gang brought Chinese women into Taiwan by means of fake marriages. Investigators were surprised to find that a National Immigration Agency official surnamed Chen was involved. ==GUO JING-DONG, Dep. Prosecutor, Taichung Prosecutors Office== Chen previously handled relevant affairs in the Specialized Operation Brigades, so he knows the procedure well. He knows the loopholes and teaches fake marriage couples how to work the system. Prosecutors indicated that Chen served in the Central Taiwan Affairs Corps of the NIA. He took advantage of his insider's knowledge in the cross-strait marriage registration process to work with human trafficking gangs to coach fake-marriage couples on how to pass the interviews. ==CHANG CHIN-SHUN, Cent. We will also discuss penalties for violation when we have a review meeting on Monday. Prosecutors found that Chen began working with human traffickers in 2013. He is presumed to have received NT$100,000 for every fake marriage he coached. On Oct 29, Chen and two other suspects were taken into custody, and prosecutors are still working to determine if there are other public servants involved.
