People have been complaining about soaring vegetable prices recently. The Executive Yuan vowed to investigate the issue but have been criticized as just putting on a show. In response, Premier Lin Chuan stressed that vegetable supply has increased, but prices remain high. That's why the government is conducting an investigation. The Yunlin Prosecutors Office formed a task force and visited Xiluo Fruit and Vegetable wholesale Market to find out whether or not unscrupulous traders have been manipulating vegetable prices.
Vegetable prices remain high despite the government's pledge to bring down price levels. Some vegetable sellers said that vegetables prices have not come down simply because wholesale prices are still expensive.

If we buy at higher prices, of course we will sell at higher prices, too. When the cost is lower, we can sell at lower prices.

They should have investigated when prices were at their peak.

Vegetables prices have not come down since the Mid-autumn Festival.
Because vegetables prices still remain at high levels, the Ministry of Justice has ordered Yunlin District Prosecutors Office to investigate if some vegetable sellers have been hoarding stocks and jacking up prices.
==HUANG I-HUA Prosecutor, Yunlin Dist. Prosecutors Office==
We have asked the Xiluo Precinct of Yunlin County Police Department and the Yulin Agricultural Department to conduct spot checks at the Xiluo Fruit and Vegetable Market.
Premier Lin Chuan indicated that vegetable supply has increased all over Taiwan, and the government is now investigating if some traders have been hoarding stocks.
==LIN CHUAN, Premier==
We have released large quantities of frozen vegetables in stock, but prices levels have not come down. This has no doubt got people wondering if some traders have been hoarding stocks. Since many people have raised this concern, of course we have a duty to investigate.
The Agriculture and Food Agency said that vegetable and fruit production will improve in autumn, and there will also be less chance of typhoon. Therefore, vegetable prices will be lower as supply stabilizes.
